DisplayLink Virtual Graphics Powers Targus' USB 3.0 Docks, Adapters
PALO ALTO, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, Nev., January 10, 2012 – DisplayLink, the leading provider of technology for virtual graphics and USB-connected computing, has announced that at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) it will demo several new USB 3.0-enabled products from Targus® Inc., maker of the world's top-selling laptop computer cases and accessories.
Leveraging the unique video compression technologies of the DisplayLink DL-3900 and the benefits of SuperSpeed USB, Targus’ new family of universal USB docks and adapters will support the delivery of high-performance graphics and video on up to two external HD displays.
“Targus has delivered an impressive, comprehensive family of new products for laptop connectivity,” said John Cummins, DisplayLink senior vice president of sales and marketing. “By supporting multiple HD displays, they’ve taken universal docks to a new level. In addition, their ACP71USZ docking station provides the valuable ability to recharge most PC laptops.”
The new Targus USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dual Video Docking Stations (ACP70US, ACP71USZ) allow users to connect a range of PC peripherals while capitalizing on the speed and performance of USB 3. Both video docking stations have the same interface ports, which include four USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 ports for connecting portable accessories such as HD drives, smart phones, cameras and more. They also support resolutions of up to 2048 x 1152, with the ACP71USZ providing integrated, patent-pending laptop recharging compatible with most 90-watt laptops.
“DisplayLink's DL-3900 dock-on-a-chip and software for USB 3.0 graphics and connectivity provide fast video, multi-channel audio, and Ethernet, among other advantages,” said Carolyn Perrier, Targus vice president of product marketing, accessories. “Our relationship with DisplayLink allowed us to be first to market with a full suite of products that address the needs of both consumers and business users.” The Model ACP70US SuperSpeedTM USB 3.0 Docking Station lists for $199.99 and the Model ACP71USZ , with its laptop recharge capability, carries a retail price of $249.99.
Both new Targus USB 3.0 video adapters deliver 1080p video and graphics support via DisplayLink video compression. The principal difference between the two products is that the Model ACA039US Dual Video Adapter offers 2048 x 1152 resolution via VGA/DVI/HDMI ports and enables you to link up to two monitors to a laptop for additional viewing area and multitasking. The Model ACA038US offers 1920 x 1080 resolution to VGA/DVI monitors and enables the use of one additional HD or legacy monitor as a mirror or extended display. Model ACA039US SuperSpeed™ USB 3.0 Dual Video Adapter will retail for $99.99. The Model ACA038US SuperSpeedTM USB 3.0 Video Adapter retails for $79.99.
